DMR Curious? No radio and no hotspot needed!

There's a new app in town: VoxDMR. Runs well on Windows and Android. Windows version is only 25 Mb download and NO INSTALLER required. It runs right from the .EXE file in the folder where ever you save it. Linux, Mac, and iOS support on the way.

Just visit: https://www.voxdmr.com/

Simple to configure:

  • DMR ID (get one at radioid.net if you don't already have one, it's free).

  • Brandmeister and/or TGIF account (free, just register).

  • Your Brandmeister and/or TGIF hotspot password (available in Self-Care at both website). VoxDMR app looks like a hotspot to the DMR networks.

  • Windows: you need a speaker and microphone. The better the quality, the better you will sound on-the-air!

  • Desktop versions need Internet access (WiFi or Wired Ethernet).

  • Android version needs Internet access from your cellular carrier or WiFi.

PLEASE NOTE: Your Brandmeister or TGIF hotspot password is the same no matter how many hotspots you use on their network! Your hotspot password IS NOT the password you use to login to their websites. You get it from self-care and/or security section of their websites.

I'm happy to walk anyone through setting VoxDMR up. Call me on the 145.11 repeater or the RATS DMR repeater.

Use it as a backup for your DMR handheld. Keep it running all day long in the hamshack. The world of DMR radio is literally a 25 Mb download away.

Colorado Digital runs a hotspot net on Wednesday nights at 9pm ET on BM 30188 (plus many other methods). Net control, W0SUN (Bucky) heavily promoted VoxDMR on last night's. I promoted it on last night's Southwest VA DMR net on TG 31513. Getting the word out. Lots of use cases for using this software to help fill in the gaps when my trusty Baofeng DM32 isn't an option.
