Motorola APX | Virginia Ham + GMRS/FRS/MURS Codeplug


This codeplug is built for the Motorola APX7500, and is fully compatible with other APX-family radios via drag-and-drop. It offers a structured, easy-to-navigate layout for amateur and personal radio use across the Commonwealth of Virginia.


Included Resources:

Ham Radio Coverage

  • 14 zones covering all known VHF/UHF FM and P25 ham repeaters in:

  • Region 1 – Richmond

  • Region 2 – Culpeper

  • Region 3 – Appomattox

  • Region 5 – Chesapeake

  • Region 7 – Fairfax

  • Regions 4 (Wytheville) and 6 (Salem) are not included.

  • HAM Zones are labeled as: HAM REGION X (where X is the region number), followed by a letter suffix (A, B, C, etc.) for sequential zones within that region [Ex. HAM R1 A, HAM R1 B, etc.].

GMRS Coverage

  • Divided into three structured zones:

  • GMRS A – High-Power Simplex

  • GMRS B – Low-Power Simplex

  • GMRS C – Repeater Channels (w/ FPP for PL tones)

  • Standardized channel naming convention is used for clarity and consistency:

  • Simplex channels: SIMPLEX [channel number] [power level]

  • Example: SIMPLEX 1 50W, SIMPLEX 8 1W

  • Repeater channels: GM-[channel number]-R[repeater number]

  • Example: GM-15-R1


FRS Channels

  • Complete set in FM, low power


MURS Channels

  • All 5 MURS frequencies included in both FM and P25


Exclusions & Notes:

  • No public safety, commercial, or mission-critical frequencies are included

  • Designed for plug-and-play deployment in APX radios with clean zone organization and consistent channel labeling
